W Network Looking For The Next Great Canadian Invention

W NeworkBackyard Inventors, a new TV series produced by Toronto’s  Gorilla Media Inc. in association with W Network, is looking for everyday inventors who are ready to showcase their inventions to the world.

On Backyard Inventors, one of the world’s leading inventors, Doug Hall, will show the innovators of Canada, with inventions he sees potential in, how to turn their ideas into commercially viable products.

“My mission is to go across Canada and find the diamonds in the rough. We’re going where the best ideas are – everyday Canadians’ basement workshops, garages, and of course, backyards,” says inventions guru Doug Hall.

Doug Hall was a first-season judge on ABC Television’s “American Inventor” and is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Eureka! Ranch, which has developed 18 products found in the average North American home.

In this new series, which is scheduled to begin taping in January 2012, Doug Hall will visit inventors in their homes for a demonstration of their prototype. The inventors who have inventions that most impress him will be chosen to go through his Eureka! Ranch process, where each will develop and refine their invention before pitching it to a top CEO.

“We are going to restart, rethink and rework, to take the essence of their ideas and turn them into reality,” says Doug Hall. “Then, we’ll give them the opportunity of a lifetime – to meet someone who could help them bring it to the mass market.”
