Paris-Based PrestaShop Announces New Canada-Compliant Release

prestashopWith more than 105,000 online stores worldwide, Paris developer PrestaShop has announced the release of v1.4.6 of its Open-source e-commerce solution, now compliant with all Canadian e-commerce requirements. The creation and improvements of several key features aimed to satisfy both merchants and web agencies allow PrestaShop users to get even more benefits from their e-commerce site.

In addition to the 275 features that come equipped in the PrestaShop download, several features related to the Canadian tax system are now included. Merchants can enjoy enhanced tax features that are streamlined with the government’s requirements, even more specifically for Quebec and Prince Edward Island.

Furthermore, PrestaShop has developed and integrated the CanadaPost module allowing merchants to ship their orders via the most used postal service in Canada. Combined with UPS and FedEX, CanadaPost completes PrestaShop’s already feature rich e-commerce software that can be downloaded for free.prestashop

“A combination of suggestions and contributions from the Canadian community has led us to these key developments. Listening to merchant’s needs has allowed us to identify critical elements to include in our shopping cart,” explains Sabrina Marechal, Manager of Canadian Operations at PrestaShop, Inc. “With all these great improvements we have developed add-ons like Moneris and Beanstream for payment and Purolator for shipping, offered in the PrestaShop Addons store,” Marechal concludes.

The install process of a PrestaShop store has been enriched with numerous localization data, allowing, among others, the automatic configuration of taxes for each province throughout Canada.

“Our aim is to develop the PrestaShop network within Canada and satisfy all e-commerce users. With these efforts, we give constant attention to merchants and have a close collaboration with web agencies and independent developers. PrestaShop is already used by thousands of e-commerce sites in Canada and we are delighted to have this great community of users!” explains Bruno Leveque, CEO and co-founder of PrestaShop, Inc.

Thanks to the encouragement and votes of numerous e-commerce experts and the Open-source community, PrestaShop has recently received the 2011 Open-source Award for Business Applications for a second year in a row. Community events are scheduled throughout the 2012 year in Quebec and Canada.
