Ernst and Young Book Drive To Assist Greater Moncton YMCA Youth Tutor Program

Ernst & YoungWhile the citizens of Moncton get into the holiday spirit with Santa Claus’s official arrival next Saturday, Ernst & Young volunteers are getting ready to spread joy and a thirst for learning to young people in the area with a book drive in support of the YMCA of Greater Moncton’s Youth Tutor Program.

“With the support and generosity of the public, we want to do something tangible to encourage young people in ymcaNew Brunswick to build their reading and writing skills,” says Étienne LeBoeuf, Senior Manager, Assurance Services, at Ernst & Young’s Dieppe office and leader of this initiative. “Literacy is a key issue for the future prosperity of our province, and we believe this initiative is a step in the right direction.”

Ernst & Young is inviting the public to the drop-off point this Saturday. Volunteers will be on hand with hot chocolate for all donations of books or cash, and donors can enjoy the Santa Claus Parade festivities.

  • Date: Saturday, 26 November 2011
  • Time: 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Drop-off point: Assumption Place, 770 Main Street, Moncton
  • Wanted: New and used books, cash donations
  • Target group: Children between ages 5 and 12

Donations will also be accepted at Ernst & Young’s offices from 5 to 16 December 2011 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Books can be dropped off at the reception desk of our Dieppe office at 11 Englehart Street.

“The upcoming holiday season reminds us how important each small act can be in supporting the community we live and work in,” says Dieppe office partner Roger Bastarache. “Fostering a thirst for learning among our young people is key to growing a strong, competitive local workforce.”
