Dinosaurs Unearthed at Wonderland

canada's wonderlandNext season, visitors to Canada’s Wonderland will be transported back in time to periods between 245 million and 65 million years ago in one of the world’s largest animatronic dinosaur parks – Dinosaurs Alive!  More than 40 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs set in a seven acre outdoor Jurassic themed environment will make up this first class interactive exhibit.

The multi-sensory dinosaur park will bring inspiration, science and technology together in a unique setting where guests will encounter handcrafted, life-like creations made to replicate nearly every feature of dinosaurs, right down to their skin-like exteriors.  Dinosaurs Alive! will feature five main scenes that will allow guests to see where dinosaurs lived, how they protected themselves, and many other aspects of their prehistoric existence.

The Dinosaurs Alive! journey will include a gigantic Ruyangosaurus towering at 42 feet (12.8M) tall, and a vicious Tyrannosaurus Rex at over 60 feet (18.3M) in length.  Several dinosaurs will feature interactive consoles allowing guests to guide dinosaur movement, mimicking what scientists believe to be the way they moved their arms, tails, mouths and eyes.  There will also be a kid’s paleontological dig site where guests will be encouraged to help uncover the skeleton of a large predator that will lay buried in the sand.

“Dinosaurs Alive! will add another dimension of excitement for our guests in 2012,” Norm Pirtovshek, Canada’s Wonderland Vice President and General Manager said. “This new attraction will present a unique educational experience, while offering thrills of a new kind for guests as they interact with these life-like dinosaurs.”

Dinosaurs Alive! is being installed by Canadian based Dinosaurs Unearthed, a traveling dinosaur exhibition company that specializes in creating outstanding dinosaur experiences.  Since 2005, their exhibitions have opened to great success across North America and delighted audiences in museums, science centers, zoos and other venues. Dinosaurs Alive! at Canada’s Wonderland will open in May, 2012. The admission to the Dinosaur Park will be $5.00.
