OpinCity is an app designed by Waterloo’s Pure And Noble, Inc. for locals to better discover their city. It’s a location based service (LBS) app that uses the GPS on your iOS and Android device to deliver time sensitive, and close-by results. It may be a concert, a Tuesday night wing special, or a neighbour’s snowblower for sale. The user is in control of the things they see, and it’s always around the corner. According to a report from the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), forty per cent of Canadians cannot identify a challenge to the success of the Internet in Canada. The report, entitled Challenges and Opportunities for the Internet in Canada, asked 1,210 Canadians what they perceive are the challenges facing the development of the Internet in Canada, and opportunities presented by the Internet.
