Canadian Digital Media Network Embarks on Canada 3.0 National Tour

CDMN [1]

Atlantic Canada is the site of the first stop in a Canadian Digital Media Network [1] (CDMN) national tour that will elicit input from digital media influencers from coast-to-coast and seed ideas to spark innovation and future employment for Canadians. Findings from regional stops along the national tour route will be compiled and shared with decision-makers in industry, government and academia and will shape the agenda and best practices for the CDMN Canada 3.0 [2] 2012 digital media forum.

“The tour is being undertaken to ensure that influencers right across the country have a hand in identifying the challenges and solutions we’re tackling in the digital media sector,” said Kevin Tuer, Managing Director of the CDMN. “At the same time, we hope to give back regionally by sharing ideas on how a digital media strategy can help organizations innovate, increase job opportunities and benefit communities.”

Fredericton was chosen as the first stop November 3 because of the New Brunswick Innovation Forum [3] being held November 2-3 which attracts Information and Communications Technology (ICT) companies, researchers, partners and investors. The Innovation Forum is hosted by the National Research Council [4] (NRC) which is the CDMN’s partner for Atlantic Canada. Other stops on the CDMN Canada 3.0 National Tour will include Montreal, Ontario (venue to be confirmed), Calgary, Vancouver and Yellowknife.

“Aligning the tour stop with the Innovation Forum in Fredericton worked well to enable CDMN to consult with senior regional influencers and decision-makers to examine digital media strategies for the Canadian economy,” said Tuer. Tuer is also a speaker at the forum, presenting on the topic “How to take Canadian innovation international”.

CDMN is the organization that orchestrates the Canada 3.0 digital media forum annually, and which is responsible for creating a national corridor of collaboration among organizations dedicated to furthering digital media in Canada. More action, not just words was a theme expressed at the 2011 forum, so the CDMN took up that challenge to help fuel strategies that can impact the Canadian economy. Organizers say the national tour will extend the reach of the CDMN Canada 3.0 digital media forum and ensure it’s a national agenda being addressed at next spring’s forum.
