Students To Premiere Videos On Digital Citizenship

Media Awareness Network MNETApproximately 25 Grade 3 students in Orleans will premiere their six new videos to highlight “Digital Citizenship”, the theme of this year’s Media Literacy Week. The Week is an annual event held jointly by the Media Awareness Network (MNet) and the Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF). This year’s theme – “Digital Citizenship” – calls on Canadians to encourage young people to reflect on their online lives, and their rights and responsibilities as they navigate the digital world.

The students’ videos pick up on the theme of character building. Thanks to The Director’s Cut for conducting Canadian Teachers Federation CTFworkshops in October where students were given the tools and techniques to write and produce their own videos. The CTF’s Imagineaction program also provided funding to support the school in this project.

YTV’s The Zone host Carlos will emcee the video premieres, which will take place on November 7th from 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Trillium Elementary School, located at 1515 Varennes Blvd in Orleans, Ontario.
