Mobile Innovations Showcases New Policing Platform with BlackBerry PlayBook

mobile innovationsWith an impressive array of applications, IT mounts and flashing lights brought together in a Dodge Charger, Mobile Innovations launched its MPAInVehicle Platform with the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet on the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) trade show floor in Chicago yesterday morning.

Using a PlayBook in place of a ruggedized laptop in the cruiser at a fraction of the cost, the Mobile Police Assist (MPA) platform puts the sum of police knowledge at the officer’s fingertips with the PlayBook’s touch screen display in a roomier, driver-safe and air-bag compliant set-up. It can work with any Record Management System (RMS) and link securely to any database. On-board peripherals like scanners and printers are connected on a SmartHub micro network to run MPA applications including automated license scan, data check and instant ticket printing.

Working with D&R Electronics, NICHE and Research In Motion (RIM), Mobile Innovations is driving the development and implementation of its bumper-to-bumper MPAInVehicle platform for Chrysler, Ford and GM police vehicles.

Leading the way at IACP is a fully up-fitted, road-ready, Dodge Police Package Charger with MPAInVehicle running on PlayBook, similar to the one purchased by a customer and driven directly off the trade show floor at the recent Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) 2011 Conference in Windsor.

“We’re seeing police forces having to move quickly to smaller cars and having to work with tighter IT budgets, while their policing demands remain constant or go up” said Gary Bauer, Mobile Innovations Founder and President. “Our MPAInVehicle solutions and partnerships like the one with D&R make it possible for our client agencies to use BlackBerry smartphones and BlackBerry PlayBook tablets to provide better mobile law enforcement in a fast and cost-effective way.”

The MPAInVehicle platform features a full suite of powerful, secure real-time applications for  PlayBook, including embedded controls for day-to-day operations. These applications include NICHE and CPIC data access; lights, siren and message board controls; as well as PlayBook versions of other popular MPA applications for BlackBerry smartphones, including MPAeTicket, MPADictation and MPABeatBlog.
