Montreal Science Centre presents Dinosaurs Unearthed

montreal science centre [1]The Montréal Science Centre [2] invites you to travel back more than 65 million years and discover dinosaurs like you’ve never seen them before! Come and see the world’s largest and most life-like animatronic (robotic) creatures, including feathered dinosaurs, full-size skeletons and numerous fossils. Dinosaurs Unearthed [3], which also features significant recent scientific discoveries, is sure to fascinate young and old alike.

Recent paleontological research in China has revealed that some dinosaurs were covered with downy feathers and has confirmed that birds descended from dinosaurs. Some paleontologists believe that dinosaurs, such as the Tyrannosaurus, were covered with feathers until adolescence, which probably helped the animal conserve heat.

Dinosaurs Unearthed is the world’s first exhibition to present life-size animatronic models of feathered dinosaurs.Adolescent Tyrannosaurus Rex [4]

Dinosaurs Unearthed will present 14 life-size, life-like animatronic dinosaurs, six of them with feathers, as well as more than 20 fossil replicas, and three complete life-size articulated skeletons. The feathered animatronic dinosaurs are of varying sizes, from the eight-metre Gigantoraptor to the one-metre Confuciusornis.

Visitors can control the movements of the Stegosaurus, and learn about dinosaur skin and bones, digestion and sounds at the touch kiosks.

Developed by BC-based Dinosaurs Unearthed, the exhibitions have already enjoyed resounding success in several Canadian and American cities.

Although they disappeared 65 million years ago, come and experience these prehistoric giants as they roar back to life. These dinosaur replicas, the Tyrannosaurus, the Triceratops, the Stegosaurus and others, will take up residence in Montréal, only at the Montréal Science Centre from October 20, 2011, to March 11, 2012.
