[1]Software company OpenText [1] has been selected a Top 100 Employer in Canada by editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers [2] project for the 2012 competition. OpenText was also named in mid-September as a Top Employer for Young People in a special category of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers recognition for the second year in a row.
”It’s an honor for OpenText to receive the Top 100 recognition given that it’s based on a comparison of other organizations in similar fields, to determine which offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs,” said Tony Preston, Senior Vice-President Human Resources at OpenText.
Competition was stiff, as Mediacorp reports that a record number of over 2,550 employers started the application process this year, with the final applicant pool up 15 percent over last year – also setting a record for year-over-year increase.
The distinguishing feature of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project is that its editors publish, on Eluta [3], detailed reasons why each winner is selected, providing transparency and guidance for both job-seekers and employers. Each winner is graded by Mediacorp editors on eight key areas that have been consistent since the inception of the program:

- Health, Financial & Family Benefits
- Vacation & Time Off
- Employee Communications
- Performance Management
- Training & Skills Development
- Community Involvement
“The Canada’s Top 100 Employers competition unearths the pride that many employees have in the organization for which they work, and provides a forum for sharing ideas and setting the bar for improvement,” said Preston. “We’re pleased to be in great company on the Top 100 list.”
Preston added that OpenText is also delighted to be recognized as a Top Employer for Young People, given that they are the workers of the future who will instigate progress through adoption of new technologies and ideas.
