Surrey School District Now Using Learn360

learn360Learn360, an interactive media-on-demand service for the K-12 education market, has signed a new contract with Surrey School District 36, the largest and fastest growing district in BC. The contract was signed following a yearlong district pilot with Learn360. Concurrently, BC has embarked on a Province wide Pilot Project managed by the Educational Resource Acquisition Consortium (ERAC) in which districts across the Province are testing top streaming video systems, including Learn360, in their classrooms. The district has 125 schools and 74,000 students.

“Learn360 is honoured to be working with a progressive district such as Surrey SD 36,” said Suzanne Hitchon, executive vice president and general manager at Learn360. “We’re excited to continue sharing our award-winning educational content and world-class customer service with the district and its students.”

Learn360 provides customers with thousands of digital video titles, images, articles, audio files and podcasts. These trusted resources are provided by top educational publishers such as Encyclopedia Britannica, A&E Television Networks, Nelvana, TVO, Westin Woods, PBS and National Geographic, among others.

“We chose Learn360 based on a one-year pilot in which we received positive feedback,” said Gloria Morton, manager of learning resources at Surrey School District 36. “In just a few days, we had teachers say that the streaming video had completely changed how they taught and how easily they taught lessons in a more effective and entertaining manner. We are looking forward to sharing Learn360 with all 125 of our schools this upcoming school year and see it as a way to offer high-quality videos that have a direct link to Canadian curricular content.”
