omni filmFlying onto the airwaves January 9, 2012, Omni Film teams up with CBC for the much anticipated dramatic series, Arctic Air. Principal photography on the inaugural season began September 6, 2011 on the 10 x 1 hour episodes, shooting at various locations in Vancouver and Yellowknife – and their production office is just down the street from us.Adam Beach

With a strong adventure component, Arctic Air explores the world of the Canadian North through an airline that provides vital services to remote communities. In a world where tradition and modernity often clash, the people from Arctic Air navigate personal relationships, the problems of a financially struggling airline, the impact of a sudden resource boom while confronting the constant adversary, the Arctic itself. With heart and humor, Arctic Air brings a dramatic twist to living life without a safety net, all against the stunning but unpredictable background of the North.

“It’s a series about all of us – about who we are and how we live – refracted through the unique dramatic prism of the North,” says executive producer/writer Ian Weir. “What matters is the human drama – and the human comedy as well, for that’s ever-present in a world full of larger than life free spirits.”

Artic Air features Adam Beach (Cowboys & Aliens, Flags of Our Fathers, Law & Order: SVU) as the charming and charismatic Bobby Martin who is co-owner of the airline. Pascale Hutton (Rookie Blue, Fringe, Sanctuary) plays fearless flyer Krista Ivarson, with a past tightly woven into Bobby’s. Mel Ivarson, a role taken on by Kevin McNulty (The Killing, Endgame, Battlestar Galactica), is father to Krista and Bobby’s bull-headed business partner, a rugged pilot with no time for stupidity.

Arctic Air is produced by Omni Film Productions Ltd. in association with CBC and the participation of the Canada Media Fund, COGECO Production Development Fund, The Province of British Columbia Incentive BC and the Canadian Film and Video Production Tax Credit program. The series is created by Ian Weir, and executive produced by Michael Chechik, Gabriela Schonbach, Ian Weir and Gary Harvey.
