webcom MontrealMontreal – With the theme of Innovation and Digital Identity, the sixth annual Webcom Montreal International Conference will take place on May 13 at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICOA) in Montreal. Speakers and participants alike will explore current issues such as innovation and digital identity, but also how to bring added value to businesses through the application of social networking tools as a means of increasing productivity. Webcom is the largest French-language conference in North America to look at new information and communication technologies.

Montreal will welcome a number of local and international speakers, including Marc Canter, founder of Macromedia, Patrick Chanezon (Google), Allen Tom (Yahoo), Clara Shih (SalesForce), Jon Frederickson (Innocentive), Cyrille de Lasteyrie, Jessica Lipnack, Gabe McIntyre, Chris McGrath, Eric Blot, Charles Nouyrit, Hervé Fischer and Caroline Allard. In all, more than 30 speakers and Quebec leaders in business communications, web marketing and e-commerce will deliver lectures, case studies and participate in roundtables. Presentations will fall within one of three tracks which will run concurrently.

“Webcom Montreal is an amazing opportunity for participants to learn, share experiences, interact and network,” said Michel Chioni, Webcom Montreal’s producer. “We’re also offering a free Webcamp where participants can discuss topics of their own choosing.”

Throughout the day, direct from the Webcom Montreal venue, organizers, speakers, sponsors and participants will appear on camera to voice their thoughts. Christian Aubry and his team will webcast these comments and insights from the conference on Webcom Live, keeping the internet audience fully up to date. Speakers in Europe and the United States will also be giving mini-conferences on the web. The ever-popular “SpeedKeynoting” will be back again this year at no cost from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM.

With a full, free Wifi service on site, organizers hope participants will feel free to blog, micro-blog or just get together to socialize. They’re also providing five official bloggers who will share the duty of summarizing the talks and events on their personal blogs. As a finishing touch, the organizers are making videos of all the lectures and these will be available, again at no cost, at webcom-montreal.com.

At 6:00 PM, all speakers and participants are invited to join the members of Yulbiz-Montreal, a group of business bloggers, at their Yulbiz Special followed by Webcom Montreal’s first ever dinner evening to which not only speakers and participants are invited, but all of the wider Quebec web and new information and communication technology (NICT) communities. This closing event will be held at Bar et Boeuf, 500 McGill Street, corner of Notre-Dame West. The evening is being sponsored by Tourisme Montréal, w.illi.am/ and Allard Hervieu Communication.
