Clio Takes Best in Show Top Ten Honours at ABA TECHSHOW Chicago and LegalTech New York

clioVancouver –  Clio is officially “Best in Show” according to the world of legal technology. The web-based practice management software-as-a-service (SaaS) product took home top honors at both New York LegalTech in February as one of Bob Ambrogi’s LegalTalkNetwork’s “Ten Tech Stars”, and more recently, the ABA TECHSHOW in April by landing on TechnoLawyer’s “Best in Show” list.

Clio’s meteoric rise began on October 1, 2008 when the product was launched at the ABA’s Solo/Small Firm Fall Meeting in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The product, created by Themis Solutions out of Vancouver, BC in Canada, was developed as a web-based alternative to traditional desktop practice management software packages such as Time Matters and Amicus Attorney. With Clio, Themis Solutions quickly developed traction among its target market – solo and small firm attorneys – a segment that had been vastly under-served by existing legal technology offerings.

Only four months after its launch, Clio made a strong showing at LegalTech New York, the largest legal technology conference in the world. At that show, Lawyer2Lawyer radio personality and attorney Bob Ambrogi hand-picked Clio as one of his Top Ten Tech Stars, and interviewed Themis’ President Jack Newton on-site at the conference about Clio. The interview was featured on the web site of Ambrogi’s internationally acclaimed radio program on the LegalTalkNetwork.

Following the successful showing at LegalTech, the company made a huge splash at the ABA TECHSHOW in Chicago earlier this month, earning them the praise of conference attendees and legal media. Throughout the show the Clio booth was constantly abuzz with interest from curious attorneys and a variety of well-respected legal technology consultants. Mazyar Hedeyat, an Illinois attorney and noted legal technology correspondent for Technolawyer, ranked Clio #1 on his Technolawyer “Best in Show” list, saying that he preferred Clio over other competitors in the web-based legal application space.

Clio has clearly hit the mark in the crowded legal technology marketplace, truly addressing the needs of an overlooked segment of the market. According to Jack Newton, “Solos and small firms needed an easy way to manage their practice information online, and that’s what Clio focuses on. The product is highly secure, easy to use, and works on PCs and Macs alike. We are thrilled to have been honored at both LegalTech New York and the ABA TECHSHOW.”
