MySpace Canada Partners with StreamTheWorld and Corus Entertainment to Launch MySpace Radio

MySpace CanadaTorontoMySpace Canada, the leading social portal in Canada, today announced a partnership with Corus Entertainment and StreamTheWorld to deliver a unique, live streaming service that allows Corus Entertainmentusers to discover, experience and listen to radio online. The new channel, MySpace Radio launched today and can be found at: myspace.com/radio.

Through the ground breaking partnership, Corus Entertainment will provide MySpace users real-time access to over 50 radios stations across the country. Canadian StreamTheWorldbased StreamTheWorld will provide the technology backbone for MySpace Radio including an intuitive flash player that incorporates MySpace social networking features and allows users to integrate their favourite radio stations into their profiles.

Initially, MySpace Radio will stream content from Corus Entertainment. Additional radio content will be added in the coming months. “A significant percentage of online radio listeners have a MySpace profile,” continued McGill. “We wanted to deliver an integrated and seamless experience that allows users to friend, share, and incorporate their online radio listening experience with their MySpace activities.”

Found On Myspace User Contest

MySpace is known for our long term commitment and investment in independent, unsigned and breakthrough music talent and is the worldwide destination for new music and undiscovered artists. Through its partnership with Corus, MySpace Canada will collaborate with Explore Music, a nationally syndicated radio program, to launch a monthly contest to provide up-and-coming
artists, who sit outside the big label system, with the chance to be promoted on-air.

The contest, “Found on MySpace,” will let millions of users recommend and vote for their favourite MySpace artist. The winner will to be showcased on Explore Music by Canada’s leading music expert, Alan Cross. The contest will launch in May 2009.
